Mitsuru Tanaka is from Osaka, Japan and started practicing Judo and Kendo when he was 13 years old. Mitsuru is a conditioning personal trainer who was teaching core fitness to MMA fighters who in turn, taught Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to Mitsuru. Mitsuru became very interested in the relationship between Japan and the Gracie Family. After studying the history of the Gracie Family, Mitsuru wanted to learn Gracie Jiu-Jitsu as Grand Master Helio had intended it to be taught. Studying and practicing Gracie Jiu-Jitsu from the Gracie Combatives DVD’s for a year, Mitsuru was able to test for his Blue Belt at Gracie Academy Headquarters in Torrance, California. So excited of his accomplishment, Mitsuru wanted to convey the wonders of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu to children and adults in Japan. Continuing to study hard, Mitsuru successfully graduated from the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy’s Instructor Certification Program in July 2012. Please visit our CTC in Osaka when you come to Japan!

To Vincent, it was important to find an efficient martial art that allowed flexibility of the mind and body which he found through Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Vincent’s passion has translated into sharing Gracie Jiu-Jitsu with his students by highlighting the benefits of learning and practicing the gentle art. This passion Vincent shares with his student’s everyday is why he chose to become an Instructor. Vincent graduated from the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy Instructor Certification Program in July 2013. Kunihisa Maeda is a personal fitness trainer from Kyoto, Japan. Kunihisa was the first student at CTC Osaka under Mitsuru Tanaka. Kunihisa also has experience in Kyokushin Karate, Taido (3rd Dan Black Belt) and has been involved with Kickboxing since he was 16 years old. Kunihisa started Gracie Jiu-Jitsu because he wanted to try a new Martial Art that he could train in a healthy and safe environment for the rest of his life. For Kunihisa, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu was this lifelong art he could study. He was fascinated with the philosophy of self defense, and of course the techniques, which required more emphasis on timing and leverage rather than strength. After the unexpected passing of one his training partners, Yasuhiro Aoki, Kunihisa was motivated to become a Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy Certified Instructor. After hard work and dedication, Kunihisa graduated from the Instructor Certification Program in July 2015. Kunihisa’s future plans are to eventually open his own Certified Training Center in Kyoto, making it the 2nd CTC to open in Japan. Kunihisa is looking forward to making Gracie Jiu-Jitsu more popular in Japan, the original roots of Jiu Jitsu.
